Presentation tips for tumblr artists
Image Quality: Be sure to edit the photographs of your artwork before submitting. You don’t want extra space around your art (except for 3D work). Photograph quality matters. If the image is blurry, crooked, too dark or too light it makes your work harder to see. A brief tutorial on photographing 2D artwork can be found here.
Tags: If your blog has other posts besides your artwork it really helps to have your work tagged to make it easy to find. It is also very helpful to have a link at the top (or side) of the page that will bring up your tagged work. It can be frustrating for someone who wants to see your work but then has trouble finding it. Tumblr offers documentation on what tags are and how to use them. However I recommend reading my instructions for adding a hyperlink to the tagged posts. For an example blog you can also look at Charmaine Olivia’s. She is an artist who posts a variety but has links at the top to her work.
The point is not to let technical issues like poor photos or difficulty finding your work handicap you.
